Chiang Mai: The Trip II

So did we like the place? Absolutely (although Ubud is still our choice for THE R&R holiday destination). Despite modernisation, Chiang Mai was still not quite as hustle-y and bustle-y, or as polluted, as a place like Ho Chi Minh City. The cool yet sunny weather was a big help. It was particularly lovely late at night, when traffic had eased off and it was cool out. It felt like we had the place to ourselves, as we pottered around on foot or puttered around on one of our tuk-tuk rides within the old city. Tamarind Village was a great find - just our kind of hotel although it could have been cheaper... (Sorry, Bali wins hands down for its inexpensive yet beautiful resorts.) The food, the shopping - it was all we had hoped it would be. We think it can only get better with repeat visits. HM's final word on this trip: she loved it.

our wish would be to return to Chiang Mai
